LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) --- UW-La Crosse Sophomore Shane Skaar and his cousin Talston Stangler decided to put their majors to work over the past 10 months and develop Streignth, a fitness apparel brand for active gym goers.

Skaar combined his two passions in order to create the culture/lifestyle brand which features hoodies, joggers, tank tops, and other gym gear.

"If I was able to create something that combined my two passions, fitness and business, put it into one that would motivate somebody or motivate a lot of people," said Skaar. "That's a dream job, and that's what I'm doing with Streignth."

The brand name Streignth combines strength and reign together to inspire the people wearing the gear to "reign" over their fitness and their lives. The lion logo symbolizes both terms as a sign of pride in self.

The 19-year-old hopes to watch his business continue to grow into one of the top fitness brands in the world. Their activewear has been sold all over the country. Skaar uses social media and brand endorsement marketing to get his product to their target demographics. In La Crosse, he utilizes his personal skills and word-of-mouth recommendations to move product.

"The most valuable thing that I've learned is that if you want to make a dream a reality, you can do whatever you want," said Skaar. "If you work hard enough and you get the right people to back you up, you can make something extremely special."
