LA CROSSE. (WXOW) - A recent donation is giving everyone a reason to smile about at Mayo Clinic Health System.
Luna is Mayo's first ever facility dog. On average, she connects with 20 patients a day.
She can be requested simply for comfort, but she also has special skills to help in therapy as she knows 40 commands.
"The donation helps significantly because it puts the money back towards k-9 companions who allows us to have such a spectacular program and it will allow them to be able to train and graduate more dogs per year," said Supervisor of Rehab Services at Mayo C.H.S. Lisa Morgan.
Morgan says Mayo C.H.S. is looking to expand the dog program in the near future.
