LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) --- The 42 annual Midwest Farm Show draws thousands to the La Crosse Center.
The show, along with other events, reinforces the reasoning for the construction of the downtown venue.
"One, we needed a face-lift, and we needed more space, a different kind of space that we could use to continue to bring things like the farm show in and bring thousands of people to the downtown area on a regular basis," said Art Fahey, La Crosse Center director.
The La Crosse Center team is learning how to better help navigate people and vendors around the work happening throughout the structure.
"We're learning how to make sure that the traffic flow with the people coming into the building is proper and everybody is kept safe," said Fahey. "Both the construction side and the guest that are coming to the building and the vendors that are loading in and out."
Crews are laying the foundation for a new entry. The length of Front St., parallel to the center, is closed for the next two years as workers build a new rooftop terrace over the street.
Project completion is expected in November 2021.
