LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Wisconsin lawmakers have released recommendations to reduce pollution in local waterways.

Governor Tony Evers declared 2019 the year of clean drinking water.

After a year of work, lawmakers are moving ahead.

Senator Jennifer Shilling worked on a bill along with Representative Jill Billings. It's among 13 bills calling for new water policies.

Senator Shilling hopes that they are able to get the package of bills through both houses before adjourning in April.

The bipartisan task force created by Assembly Speaker Robin Vos estimates the bills call for $10 million in new spending.
