La Crosse, Wis. - (WXOW) - Students at Southern Bluffs Elementary were able to have someone from within their own ranks running the show for a day.
Enter fifth grader Jacob Fresia, or Principal Fresia as he was known all of Friday.
Jacob was the principal for a day. He stepped into his leadership position ready to go. His day of new responsibilities included guiding a kindergarten class through morning announcements and the Pledge of Allegiance. From there, it was a full agenda of meetings, classroom checks, and even an assembly.
"I have a couple of interviews and I have to meet with the student leadership too," Fresia said. "It's a very busy schedule."
When asked if there's anything he'd like to add or do to make his mark with his one day of power, his answer was quick.
"I'd like to have more homework for the older kids and make recess longer," he said.
Come Monday, Southern Bluffs will return all principal responsibilities to Lisa Schreiner.
This is the eighth year of having the principal for a day event. It came about as a prize awarded through a winning bid at the annual parent/teacher organization's holiday fair auction.
