PEORIA, IL (WXOW) - A brief court appearance Monday for the man wanted in a La Crosse homicide.

During the hearing in a Peoria County courtroom, Shavonte Thompson told the court he was the person wanted in Wisconsin.

Thompson is accused of 1st-Degree Intentional Homicide in the shooting death of Javier Hall on November 2 on the north side of La Crosse. Thompson was identified as the person who shot Hall in an alley near Copeland Park.

Thompson fled following the shooting. He was on the run until his arrest on January 10 in Peoria, Illinois by US Marshals and the Peoria Police Department.

Since his arrest, he's remained jailed in Peoria County.

According to information from the hearing, the state of Wisconsin needs to file a Governor's warrant with the state of Illinois in order for the extradition procedure to continue.

No timetable was given in court as to when that paperwork would arrive.

The judge did schedule a review of the case for January 23 if Thompson is still in Illinois.
