Eau Claire (WQOW)- We’re still in the early part of the winter season, but snow is already piling up on the side of the road, making it difficult to see oncoming traffic.
Eau Claire Police Officer Josh Miller said snowbanks near intersections are a big problem because it makes it difficult for drivers to see oncoming traffic.
Miller said it's not a bad idea to tie something to your antenna so cars can see you better at intersections.
He said if you're at an uncontrolled intersection, you need to treat it like a stop sign and creep out slowly to avoid an accident.
"We saw a lot of crashes at intersections when people would pull out. They couldn't see an oncoming vehicle and they either struck that vehicle or were struck by that vehicle," Miller said. "We had to issue a lot of citations of those crashes for failure to yield from an intersection."
Miller said if you're convicted of failure to yield, your driver's license could be suspended.
