LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Avid book readers gathered for "Books 'N Brunch" to discuss the book, "Following Atticus." The book is about the special bond between dogs and their owners.

After eating, drinking coffee and discussing the Tom Ryan book, local veterinarians Jean and Tom Thompsons from Thompson Animal Hospital spoke about dogs.

"They all enjoy reading and they enjoy socialization," La Crosse Public Library Readers Advisory Librarian Mary Dunn said. "It's a very chatty group. It's hard to get them quiet to discuss the book but once you get some food in their mouths that usually helps."

The La Crosse Public Library started the book and brunch group six years ago. It is free for anyone and they meet four times every year.
