Rezoning for La Crosse trail access point gets unanimous yes

La Crosse, Wis. - (WXOW) - The City of La Crosse Judiciary and Administrative Committee voted unanimously in favor of approving rezoning for two parcels of property.

The vote allows for the next step in adding neighborhood access points to Grandad Bluff Park, currently nicknamed Grandma's Gateway.

The meeting also brought in another strong turnout of those both in favor and opposing the current trajectory of the proposal. Those against the rezoning cited they were asking for more time to reconsider and look at the possible effects of adding access points.

Ultimately, it was revealed that even under the current zoning on the two parcels, the access points could be created. The request for rezoning was merely a way of bringing the two parcels into continuity with the existing trail land.

With that, the committee voted and the issue now moves to the full council. The next city council meeting is slated for February 13.
