LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - The Wuhan Coronavirus may grab the headlines, but local health experts warn the flu should still be our main focus.

Megan Meller, an infection control specialist at Gundersen Health System, said the numbers show the flu season has not yet reached peak. Like Coronavirus, influenza can also cause serious health problems, especially for vulnerable populations.

Typical flu symptoms include fever, chills and aches in addition to coughing, sneezing and runny or stuffy nose. Meller said Coronavirus tends to show up with more cold-like symptoms.

She suggested decreasing risk for both by washing your hands. Meller added that it's never too late to get a flu shot.
