LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - The UW-La Crosse Support Service Office and students tied fleece blankets and then donated them to community organizations on Saturday.
It is a part of National Day of Service where the students combined blanket patterns and tied them together. Once finished, they handed the blankets out to places like The Women's Shelter and Gundersen's Oncology Department.
"It's not only having them involved in making the blankets," UW-La Crosse Student Support Services Advising Coordinator Megan Gosse said. "They'll be able to go with us to hand these blankets out to these organizations, and I think that's almost more important than making them... is seeing how grateful these organizations are and how much in need people in La Crosse are of these things."
This is the second year of the donation event.
