LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - There are a number of things you and your family can do to prevent the spread of COVID-19 or the Coronavirus.
The first is to wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water aren't available, the CDC recommends the use of a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. They also suggest avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
Use social distancing. Avoid close contact with anyone who may be sick.
Cover your nose or mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow. Wash your hands afterwards or use hand sanitizer.
Believe You Have COVID-19?
If you think you may have COVID-19, there are things you can do according to the CDC.
Stay home unless you need to seek medical care. Avoid public areas such as work or school. Avoid public transportation.
Stay away from other people.
Call ahead before visiting your care provider. This way, the provider can help keep others from becoming exposed or infected.
Wear a facemask if you are sick or if you have to care for someone who isn't able to wear a facemask (for example, if breathing problems occur when wearing one).
Practice the same preventative steps, such as washing hands, mentioned earlier.
