Festival Foods raising funds for Freedom Honor Flight

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Festival Foods has started their Freedom Honor Flight Icon Sale.

Beginning Friday, July 3, shoppers will be able to purchase either a $1 or $5 "icon" at any of the four Festival Foods locations in the La Crosse area. Cashiers will simply ask about purchasing one during check-out at the register. People can write their names on the paper flyer icons and they will all be placed on the walls at the front of the stores.

Proceeds from the sales will help cover the costs of flying veterans to Washington D.C.

This year's flights have been canceled due to COVID-19, but the next one is scheduled for spring of 2021.

There are currently more than 600 veterans on the waiting list.

Mark Przywojski, Store Director for Festival Foods in Holmen says, "Festival is so proud to be a partner with Freedom Honor Flight and we have been pretty much from the inception back in 2008. We're excited to get going again this year. We're going to be having icon sales at all four La Crosse area stores for the next two weeks and we're shooting to raise $20,000 this year with the help of our guests."

The fundraiser runs through July 17.
