WINONA, Minn. (WXOW) - A Dakota man is facing a charge of 2nd-Degree murder in the death of his wife.
A probable cause statement filed by Winona County gave details on what happened. On Friday, July 10, a call came into the Winona County Dispatch Center from a man identified as Joseph Bailly Wright.
He told the dispatcher that he had killed his wife.
When officers went to their residence, they found the woman dead and the Wright wounded in a suicide attempt.
The statement said that the woman was stabbed to death.
An officer also found a suicide note "with statements indicating the writer could not take it anymore, the writer could not watch her suffer, and the writer tried to kill himself.
Law enforcement was told that the victim had dementia.
Because of his injuries, Wright was taken to a La Crosse hospital for treatment. He was then taken to the La Crosse County jail where he's awaiting extradition back to Minnesota to face the charge.
