Winona County continues to see spike in new COVID-19 cases

MINNEAPOLIS (AP/WXOW) — On Sunday, the number of positive cases of COVID-19 grew by 35 in Winona County.

Winona County Health and Human Services said they've now seen 427 cases including 17 deaths from the virus.

The county had two dozen on Saturday. They recorded 12 on Friday, and 38 on Thursday,

Fillmore County has had three new cases on Sunday with Houston County reporting four.

Minnesota is reporting 934 new positive COVID-19 tests statewide along with two additional deaths.

Health officials reported the positive tests on Sunday, bringing the state statewide total to 78,189. Health officials said 8,237 health care workers have tested positive for the virus since the pandemic began. Minnesota’s death toll since the pandemic began was 1,816 on Sunday.

Officials report that 1,338 deaths have been among residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. A total of 6,454 people have required hospitalization. Of those, 315 remain in those facilities, with 136 in intensive care.
