CHASEBURG, Wis. (WXOW) - A small Western Wisconsin community won't let COVID-19 get in the way of its biggest cancer-fighting fundraising events. The 15th Sole Burner in Chaseburg will follow health guidelines while still supporting cancer research and assistance.
The event begins on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. in the Cashton Village Park with a drive-through Chicken Q. The afternoon features a silent auction in lieu of the traditional live auction and kids games. The cancer walk begins at 4 p.m. with the opening ceremony. A Luminaria event takes place at 6:30 p.m.
Over the past 14 years, the small community of about 1,100 people has raised more than $1.2 million dollars for the American Cancer Society. Linda DeGarmo with the Cancer Action Network said while this year won't see the fundraising totals of past events, she's happy with any support.
