LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Gundersen Health System starts offering flu shots to the public starting next month.
Beginning October 12, flu shots are available at both La Crosse and Onalaska Gundersen campuses.
No appointment is needed to get vaccinated. The clinics are open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
In La Crosse, flu shots are available on Level 1 of the Main Clinic in Imaging Services and Level 4 of the Onalaska clinic.
Patients visiting Gundersen facilities during scheduled appointments can also get the flu vacccination.
People between the ages of 2-49 can request either a nasal spray or a shot. High dosage flu shots are available to people 65 or older.
The Cass Street Pharmacy also has flu shots available for persons age 6 or older.
Gundersen recommends people who may be at high risk for the flu get vaccinated:
- Children between 6 and 23 months of age
- Those age 65 and over
- Pregnant women in their second and third trimester
- People with health conditions such as heart or lung problems, kidney disease, cystic fibrosis, asthma, etc.
- Residents of long-term care facilities
- Healthcare workers
