Two injured in Vernon Co. motorcycle crash

VIROQUA, Wis. (WXOW) - The driver and passenger on a motorcycle are hurt in a collision with a pickup truck Friday afternoon in rural Vernon County.

It happened near the intersection of County Road B and Park Road by Esofea County Park around 3:44 p.m.

A motorcycle driven by Darren Almquist, 60, of Wind Lake, Wisconsin, was northbound coming around a sharp curve according to the Vernon County Sheriff''s Office. Almquist's motorcycle crossed into the southbound lane where it was hit by a pickup truck.

Both Almquist and his passenger, Joan Almquist, 60, also of Wind Lake, were hurt in the crash. Both were sent to Gundersen Health System by Tri-State Ambulance.

The sheriff's office said Joan Almquist was wearing a helmet, while Darren Almquist was not.

The driver of the pickup, Steven Zanter, 52, of Viroqua, was wearing a seatbelt and was unhurt in the collision.
