Former officer accused of killing George Floyd released on bail

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KTTC) – Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer accused of killing George Floyd, was released from prison, according to court records.

Law enforcement issued a notice of release after Chauvin posted a non-cash bond.

His jury trial is still set to begin on March 8.

Chauvin is facing murder and manslaughter charges following Floyd’s death on Memorial Day.
