LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Candidates for La Crosse mayor have a little more than a month to prove to voters why they should be one of the top two advancing to the general election.

Joe Konradt brings a business and financial background to the table having worked in banking for over 30 years. Konradt most recently worked with the La Crosse Community Foundation, local law enforcement, and the United States Department of Justice to raise money to provide all law enforcement agencies with body cameras to promote greater transparency.

Konradt says he hopes to bring new leadership to the city that his family has called home for many years. "I have thought about this for a long time. I’ve always wanted to run for office and to be a servant and help other people living in La Crosse feel as good as we do as living here. I just see an opportunity now with the mayor choosing not to run for new leadership and I think we need new leadership. We are facing new problems we need new ideas we need new approaches."

The primary is on February 16. The top two will advance to the general election for mayor on April 6.
