Eau Claire man accused of stealing, killing dog

CHIPPEWA COUNTY (WQOW) – An Eau Claire man is charged with dognapping, then killing the dog.

According to charges, Joshua W. Erickson stole the female husky named ‘Kawani’ from the yard of a home in the town of Wheaton last April.

The dog’s owner believed it was stolen as collateral for a generator that her daughter’s boyfriend allegedly stole from Erickson.

The dog’s body was found several weeks later, stuffed in a 50-gallon drum near a boat landing. An acquaintance of both men told investigators that Erickson admitted killing the dog.

Erickson is also charged with theft, mistreating animals and bail jumping.

He will be in court next month.
