Chilly start to the work week…

Colder Canadian air remains in place in the wake of a winter storm that mostly stayed south of the News 19 viewing area. Highs moved into the lower to middle 20s and colder temperatures will follow for Wednesday and Thursday.

Snow reports in the area…

Prairie Du Chien received almost 6 inches of snow, and the amounts rapidly decreased heading north. Decorah received about 2 inches and Viroqua picked up less than a half an inch. The La Crosse area received a trace to a couple tenths of an inch.

Snow depths are higher south…

Satellite estimates that about a foot is on the ground from around Decorah to Prairie Du Chien, so if you are looking for the best winter sports conditions head south.

Weekend weather…

A warming trend will bring highs into the lower 30s for Saturday and Sunday, but there is a potential winter storm to track. It’s too early to talk about snow amounts at this time. Stay tuned!
