WINONA, Minn. (WXOW) - Winona County plans to begin offering COVID-19 vaccines to residents aged 65 and older.

County health workers said all those wishing to be vaccinated can register and fill out an online form using this link. Once completed, individuals are then placed on a COVID-19 vaccination request list.

Residents without a smart phone or internet access can call 507-457-6375 for assistance. Staff members at this number are available to help Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

According to officials, staff plans to randomly select community members from the list. Selected residents will be contacted via phone or email to schedule their appointment.

In an attempt to keep phone lines open, officials encourage individuals to wait to be called rather than calling the organization themselves. Residents that receive a vaccine elsewhere are asked to share this information with scheduling staff so they can be removed from the list.

Officials note that completing a vaccination request form does not guarantee an immediate appointment or vaccination, as some may be unable to receive a vaccine due to specific health needs. In addition, officials remind community members to continue to follow safety guidelines, including face covering, hand washing, and social distancing recommendations.
