(WXOW) - Snowmobile season is in full swing with this latest snowfall.
Injury Prevention Specialist Megan Anderson from Gundersen Health System said speed and alcohol continue to be the leading factors in crashes and fatalities.
Wisconsin had 23 fatalities from snowmobiles last year.
Snowmobilers should wear a helmet when riding, bring a trail map, stick to the trail, and travel with a partner or group. Anderson added that it's a good idea to carry a first aid kit. She also advised taking a snowmobile safety course.
