LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - A lot of effort goes goes into putting the WIAA broadcast, especially this year.

Girls State Basketball Games are being held in two different locations for the first time. Some teams play at the La Crosse Center and others play at the Menominee Nation Arena in Oshkosh.

In order to make both of those broadcasts happen, separate camera crews and satellite trucks are set up in Oshkosh and La Crosse. The footage from Oshkosh is then sent back to La Crosse for final touches.

"In La Crosse we have the director, the producer, the replay, audio, graphics, and closed captioning," Executive Producer of the WIAA 2021 Broadcast Bob Goessling said. "All of that is being added after receiving the cameras from Oshkosh, then it is uplinked to stations around the state."

Goessling also said COVID-19 has created an additional obstactle for the production crew, but they are following safety protocols.
