LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - In what was expected to be a game that featured a lot of offense, the defenses of Bangor and Mineral Point started the game.

Both teams came out a bit cold at the La Crosse Center. Midway through the first half, the biggest lead was five when Macy Aschliman hit a three for a 10-5 Pointer lead.

Mineral Point's offense then went on a 14-4 run in the latter part of the first half to take a lead at halftime 30-13.

The Pointers were 7 for 16 from three point land in the first half.

Bangor, who was making their fourth appearance in the past five seasons, wasn't able to answer. They were hurt by turnovers. Mineral Point scored 11 points off of Cardinal turnovers in the first half. Bangor didn't get any.

The Cardinals struggled offensively coming out in the second half while Mineral Point continued to score. The Pointers began with a 13-3 run in the first six minutes of the half to stretch their lead to 43-16.

In the end, Mineral Point ended the Cardinals season with a 66-30 win.

Taylor Jacobson and Bella Langrehr led Bangor scoring with six points each.

Mineral Point had two players in double figures. Blair Watters had 20 including three three-point hoops. Mallory Lindsey dropped 11 in for the Pointers.

Mineral Point now plays number-one seeded Mishicot for the state championship tonight starting at 6:35 p.m. at the La Crosse Center.
