LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Some La Crosse County residents protested Friday afternoon outside the county's administrative building in La Crosse.

They want the La Crosse County Board to discipline County Administrator Steve O'Malley.

The reason is over a controversial post O'Malley made on social media about the death of Rush Limbaugh.

He wrote, "If I believe in hell it would be the most deserving place for the like of him. He never loved anything but hated, racism and disrespect."

The comments led to a review and opinion by the La Crosse County Ethics Board on Thursday.

La Crosse County Board Chair Monica Kruse released the board's opinion Friday morning. It found that there wasn't a violation of the county's Code of Conduct by O'Malley in making the comments.

The La Crosse County Board is expected to discuss the matter further when they meet later this month.
