WABASHA, Minn. (WXOW)- The Wabasha County Sheriff's Department is investigating the murder of a 73-year-old man.
According to Chief Deputy Jim Warren, authorities were first notified of the incident on March 5 at around 6:18 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, located off of County Road 6 in Zumbro Falls, officers discovered the body of 73-year-old Edward Riley.
The department said Riley's son, James Riley, 44, has been arrested and charged with the murder of his father. Authorities stated Riley is currently being held in the Wabasha County Jail, with assistance from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA).
According to Deputy Warren, there is no threat to public safety at this time, as the department continues to investigate the incident.
