La Crescent (WXOW) -- The "Apple Capital of Minnesota" is ready for the return of Applefest this Thursday!
Last year, organizers held the King Apple Parade, but did not offer the rest of the usual attractions. This year, it's all back with plenty of kid-friendly events, like "Balloons by Kevin" and "Tappy's Face Painting," but don't worry, there will be plenty of activities for adults, too.
Organizers say one of the usual events that they won't be holding this year is the senior citizen luncheon to protect our most vulnerable population during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Nevertheless, Mandi Lenser, the Applefest Board director says they are excited about being back.
"We've been really excited about fest all year and really looking forward to it so we're just all really excited that we get to have some sort of normal fest again."
There will be an assortment of treats every day from a variety of local concessions, live music Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening, and a flea market and arts and crafts fair for visitors to browse.
The beer tent and the Carnival open at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
The King Apple Parade will be Sunday, September 19th at 1 p.m.
You can find a complete list of Applefest's events on their website.
