BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. (WXOW) - The Jackson County Sheriff's Office said they've arrested a 52-year-old woman on a charge of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide in the death of a man last week.

On Thursday, September 9, at around 10:23 p.m., deputies were called to a residence on Park Avenue in the Town of Brockway after a 911 caller said there was a man there in need of emergency medical attention.

When they arrived, deputies began lifesaving measures on the man. Members of the Black River Falls Emergency Medical Services soon took over.

The man was airlifted to Marshfield Hospital where he was pronounced dead later that night.

Deputies also found a woman in need of emergency medical treatment. She was taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.

Information released on Monday by the sheriff's office identified the man as Thomas J. Boetcher, 53. They identified the woman as Kellie J. Schmidt who lived at the same address as Boetcher.

Based on information gathered by investigators and the autopsy on Boetcher, the sheriff's office arrested Schmidt on a charge of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide. The sheriff's office did not provide details on what happened to cause Boetcher's death.

Schmidt is currently in the Jackson County Jail awaiting an initial court appearance.
