Tools for Schools awards Cory Kemnitz $500

Students with special needs at Onalaska Middle School will have additional resources thanks to the Tools for Schools award.

Cory Kemnitz is the latest recipient of the $500 award from WXOW, SSE Music, and Brenegen Auto.

Kemnitz is a special needs teacher and says many of his students struggle to stay focused in regular desks. The Tools for Schools award will go towards Zuma Rocker chairs.

Kemnitz explained, "These chairs let them move in their seat and still stay focused and tuned into the lesson, so it should help our students focus longer throughout the day."

Zuma Rockers are flexible chairs which allow students to rock in their seat without tipping over or distracting other students. They also keep students active without leaving the classroom.

"The more often they’re in the room, in their seats, paying attention, the better things are going to be," said Kemnitz.
