Sparta teacher wins Tools for Schools award

Third graders at Southside Elementary School in Sparta will be building their own guitars thanks to the Tools for Schools Award.

Trevor Tripp is this month’s winner of the $500 award from WXOW, SSE Music and Brenengen Auto.

Tripp is the kindergarten through third grade music teacher and will be using the money to buy building supplies.

Members of the community will also be pitching in including the high school wood class which will be designing and staining the necks for the guitars.

The students’ final project is to sing and accompany themselves at the spring concert.

WXOW, SSE Music and Brenengen Auto help one deserving teacher or class each month.
