March Jefferson Award Winner – Dewayne “Dewey” Severson

If it’s a project that benefits the La Crescent community, chances are, Dewey Severson is part of it.

Severson is devoted to community service for a simple reason – he likes to help people. One way he does that is by driving the bus for students on mission trips sponsored by Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.  He’s driven students throughout the country for the past 16 years.

That’s just one way Dewey supports the community.  He’s also the Chamber of Commerce president.  While conducting a Chamber lunch recently, WXOW General Manager Dave Booth surprised Dewey with the Jefferson Award for community service.

If you know someone who volunteers and makes the community a better place as a result, please consider nominating that person.
