ReNEW La Crosse Neighborhoods looks to revitalize the northside

ReNEW La Crosse Neighborhoods will now be moving on to the lower Northside and Depot neighborhoods to help revitalize those areas.

ReNEW has found that many residents in these neighborhoods are interested in making it a better place to work, play and live.

Volunteers will help residents of the neighborhoods with a variety of activities including simple repairs, painting, landscaping, and general yard work. The program is free to homeowners in these neighborhoods.

Kahya Fox, executive director for Habitat For Humanity in La Crosse says, "We have a lot of people who have applied. We have a lot of people that aren’t really sure since we’re new in the neighborhood. Sometimes when we say, you know, ‘We’ll come and give you mulch for free, and rock for free, and we’ll paint your deck for free’. A lot of people are like, ‘That sounds a little too good to be true’, but ReNEW has been around for seven years; it’s not too good to be true."

ReNEW is encouraging residents of the two neighborhoods to submit applications for work that needs to be done.

Fox continued to say, "We have some really great pictures over the years with the projects we have worked on; where you take a look and we add just a few flowers and a little paint here, and it can drastically change what the outside of that house looks like. Not only does it feel good for the homeowner, it feels good for the neighborhood."
