Essential Health Clinic closing three area locations

Essential Health Clinic is closing three of its locations next month.

In an announcement Tuesday, they said they are closing clinics in Black River Falls, Prairie du Chien, and Richland Center. It said clients will receive care through July 24 in Prairie du Chien, August 1 in Black River Falls, and Richland Center through August 8.

Clients from those clinics will be seen at Essential Health’s clinics in La Crosse, Sparta, Viroqua, and Whitehall.

“While three of our physical locations will close later this summer, our focus on health and wellness programming in those communities and beyond is not changing,” says Derek Kruempel, executive director, Essential Health Clinic. “STD and other testing events with county health departments, education at schools, health fairs and a variety of other outreach efforts will continue. We look forward to continuing our work on behalf of our clients and the community with the help of great partners.”

The announcement said that funding challenges from the federal government and state led to the decision to close the three clinics.

Essential Health Clinic provides reproductive care for more than 7,000 clients each year according to the announcement.
