Drug companies recalling medications due to packaging problem

(WKOW) — Two drug companies are recalling some of their medications because of a problem with the packaging.

The recalls involve about 470,000 units of medications made by Novartis and Sandoz.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the packaging is not child resistant as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act, posing a poisoning risk if swallowed by children.

So far, the CPSC says the firms have received one report of a child ingesting one of the medications from one of these packages.
