Man who crashed car into gas station makes court appearance

A La Crosse man made his initial appearance in court Monday afternoon following his arrest Friday after hitting a downtown gas station with a car.

Michael D. Olson, 55, was charged with his sixth OWI.

Police said Olson was behind the wheel of the car when he went off the street and hit the side of the Mileage gas station on Cass Street. Two passengers were in the vehicle with Olson at the time.

Reports from the police said that Olson registered a .244 preliminary blood test result which is more than three times the legal limit in Wisconsin.

Olson remains jailed on a $5,000 cash bond.
