Council to vote to override Mayor’s veto of La Crosse Center expansion plan

La Crosse’s City Council meets this evening to try to overturn a decision by Mayor Tim Kabat that put a hold on expanding the La Crosse Center.

The meeting at City Hall begins at 6 p.m.

Last month, the mayor vetoed the project which he said cost too much and whose design didn’t fit in with the "aesthetics at one of the most beautiful and historic sites anywhere on the Mississippi River."

The council needs nine votes to overturn the veto and proceed with the proposed $49 million expansion.

WXOW’s Mackenzie Amundsen will have a live update tonight during our 6 pm Report.
