SOUP-toberfest makes dreams a reality as a community

Through four yearly events, La Crosse SOUP provides a chance for community members to make aspiring projects a reality. On Wednesday they held their first SOUP-toberfest.

Four organizations pitched their ideas for projects that will make La Crosse a better place.

Attendees pay for a bowl of soup and a chance to vote for their favorite idea.

The winner of SOUP-toberfest receives an opportunity to bring their project into the community.

"One group will have their passion project funded, we’ll give away anywhere from $2,000 to $3,000 to get them started and on their way," Executive Director of La Crosse SOUP Josh Court explains.

Though there can be only one winner, the event hopes to spark an interest in helping make the dreams of community members come true.

"We hope that other ideas get funded too when people make connections to things they are passionate about," Court adds.

Cia Siab was the favorite on Wednesday, receiving over $2,800 to start a Youth Hmong Dance Team in La Crosse.
