Onalaska man killed in north side motorcycle accident

A 20-year-old Onalaska man is identified as the victim of a fatal motorcycle crash Monday night on the north side of La Crosse.

According to La Crosse Police, Kalen Islam was exiting eastbound I-90 on to Highway 35 at around 8 p.m. 

Witnesses told police that Islam popped a wheelie, accelerated across southbound Highway 35, where he hit a media and was thrown off the motorcycle. 

He then struck a vehicle headed north on Highway 35. He was declared dead at the scene. 

Islam was wearing a helmet according to police. 

The northbound lanes were closed until midnight as the Wisconsin State Patrol did their investigation into the incident.
