La Crosse, WI (WXOW) – Governor Scott Walker on Thursday announced the formation of a Veterans Coalition to identify ways Wisconsin can better serve the needs of active duty and retired service members.

During a campaign stop in La Crosse at the Waterfront Cargill Room, Walker said his Coalition will bring veterans together to find more ways to encourage businesses to hire veterans and to make it easier for veterans to become entrepreneurs.

Walker said Wisconsin already leads the nation in veterans services. “Those freedoms are endowed by our Creator and defined by the Constitution but we have them because every day they are defended by the men and women both in the past and today that protect them in the U.S. Military. We’re pleased and proud that Wisconsin has more services and benefits for veterans than any state in the nation.”

Walker also welcomed the endorsement of Don Weber, founder of La Crosse based Logistics Health Inc. and himself a Vietnam Veteran.

Governor Walker faces a re-election challenge from Democrat Tony Evers on November 6.
