La Crosse, WI (WXOW) – Mix one part disgruntled Christmas elf, another part stiff cocktail and a story by David Sedaris and you get “The Santaland Diaries.” It’s the perfect recipe for an evening of holiday humor for mature audiences.

Local actor and storyteller, Michael Scott reprises his role as a struggling New York actor who takes a job as an elf at Macy’s. The one-man-show recounts the sometimes humiliating struggles of dealing with Santa, kids and their parents as well as all the bitterness that follows. Still, Scott said that there’s a poignant message and some holiday cheer, making “spirits” bright.

The Santaland Diaries opens on Friday, December 7, at the Pump House Regional Arts Center. Performances at Weber Center are are December 14-22. Tickets are available at the box office or online.
