LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – April 16th was a big day for La Crosse’s Mayo Clinic Health System – It’s Cancer Center is officially one step closer to having its renovation project complete.
The renovations are happening in three phases, and now, phase one is finished. They’ve opened up the patient waiting area and the treatment area, creating more space, and a more inviting atmosphere.
The hospital says the work is part of an effort to help patients and their families feel comfortable.
“We really try to make sure that they are able to talk and turn their chairs towards each other if they want to. There are some spaces that are a little bit more private if they want that as well. it’s just a very nice, open, and light atmosphere,” described Rachel Bishop, the cancer centers nurse manager.
With phase one now complete, phase two is beginning. Mayo Clinic hopes to have those wrapped up by the end of summer to start phase three, which has an expected completion by the end of this year, wrapping up the entire project. Those renovations will include a pharmacy renovation, additional exam rooms, and redesigned offices and reception areas.
