Big camping weekend at Goose Island

STODDARD, Wis. (WXOW) – Sunny skies graced the campgrounds at Goose Island, with campers looking to enjoy a long holiday weekend. Those already set up in their campsites noted plenty of available space despite some of the shoreline sites still underwater.

“There’s an old flooded out park and we sat on the swings with our feet in the water,” Jacob Lange, a camp visitor said. “It was really cool and a really fun experience.”

The Mississippi River, at 13.1 feet and expected to crest sometime Sunday at 13.3.
