LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – A big undertaking on a busy road in La Crosse, Losey Boulevard, is hindering drivers and causing headaches for many.
Much of the road is currently torn up between the intersection with State Road south to the intersection with Ward Avenue. See a map at the bottom of this story.
Both directions of traffic are down to one lane, and there are no left turns allowed onto State Road from either direction. Police say they’ve already ticked multiple drivers for violating construction zone driving rules.
“What we are seeing is a lot of vehicles are not abiding by the clearly posted signs and the detour that is there,” La Crosse Police Sergeant Tom Walsh said. “So we are just asking our driving public to be aware that that detour is happening and that they are not to be going left at the intersection of Losey and State road until this construction ends.”
Another rule to remain aware of while driving in construction – it is illegal to be on your cell phone while passing through construction. The only exceptions are for calling in emergencies or if your device is hands-free.
