St. Cloud, Minn. (WXOW)  La Crescent-Hokah’s dream of a state baseball title came to a quick end Thursday with a 12-5 loss to Minnehaha Academy in the Class AA Quarterfinals.

Minnehaha scored four runs in the first inning and never trailed.

La Crescent pulled to within 6-5 after scoring two runs in the second and three in the third.

But Minnehaha scored at least one run in every inning to pull away for the win.

Bryce Weymiller gave up 8 runs (5 earned) in just three innings for the Lancers.

Thomas Kiesau had two hits and two runs batted in for the Lancers.

Brandon Von Arx chipped in three hits as well.

“It’s a game we haven’t been a part of this year. Our pitchers have gotten people out and it didn’t happen today. They outslugged us, that’s for sure,” said head coach Rick Boyer.
“It’s hard to take a loss like that. This whole season we fought and fought the whole time. It’s hard to see us go down like that. They hit the ball really well. We just couldn’t do it today. It wasn’t our day,” said catcher Brandon Von Arx, who had three hits in the game.

La Crescent moves on to the consolation bracket with a 21-6 record.
