LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – The 3rd annual Airport Open House gave families the opportunity to see a different side of the airport.

Everyone got the chance to get up close and personal with airplanes, helicopters, and law enforcement. While enjoying a pancake breakfast, the event attracted hundreds of people throughout the day.

It’s a community that is trying to grow their numbers through the open house.

“Really our goal here is to create some community around the airport and give folks a chance to come out and experience the airport in a different way,” Squadron commander Todd Mandel said. “Get kids and their parents and just anybody excited about aviation and aerospace and the roll it plays in the coulee region.”

The local civil patrol squadron leads the effort in the annual event which has grown in attendance each year.
