LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) — The La Crosse County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau is hosting the 63rd annual conference for the Association of Great Lakes Outdoor Writers this week.
The association is home to outdoor writers, social media creators, videographers, radio personalities, conservationists, tourism bureaus, and corporate companies.
Around 200 of their members are in the Coulee Region, networking, attending seminars, and exploring La Crosse’s wildlife. Preserving that wildlife is a big part of the organization’s mission.
“When you appreciate something, it provides value to you, and we protect the things that we value which as a society, it’s obviously very important that we do what we can to preserve our natural resources, and, in the case of fish and game, to use those resources wisely and responsibly,” said Josh Lantz, president of AGLOW.
The organization has been around since 1956, and the conference runs until tomorrow. The group will travel to Gaylord, Michigan for next year’s conference.
“We have great destinations that have those outdoor resources that our members can go out and enjoy, and ultimately, inspire other people to go out and enjoy the outdoors,” said Lantz.
