LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – Town of Campbell volunteer firefighters continued Fire Prevention Week with a training session at Summit Elementary School.

Firefighters demonstrated how their masks works for pre-kindergarten and showed them how they would approach a child if there was an actual fire.

“We want the kids to get to know us and also our gear and get familiar so that they don’t run away from us if we have an emergency at their house,” Town of Campbell Fire Department Public Fire Safety Education Coordinator Jeff Nylander said. “They will not only trust us, but they will also be able to see who we are and some of the tools that we bring with us.”

Nylander said the volunteer firefighters have been training students at Summit Elementary School for 10 years.
