Halloween enthusiast spends months decorating his Fall Creek home

Fall Creek (WQOW )- Halloween is fast approaching and a home in Fall Creek is already decked out, ready to send a chill down the spine of anyone who drives by.

For 15 years Cliff Bates has been garnishing his home on Highway 12 with ghouls and goblins, which he calls “Bates Dead and Breakfast.”

It takes two months for him to decorate his yard and his haunted house, which is only open on Halloween. Most of his decorations are homemade, the rest are purchased after the season to save money. Bates said over the last 15 years he’s probably spent $1,000 on decorations.

He said Halloween takes him back to his childhood and he wants kids to enjoy the holiday as much as he does.

“Nowadays you just don’t have that same spirit of Halloween and we want to bring that back,” Bates said. “We want to have the kids come through and get scared. We want them to have fun and have something for them to do that doesn’t cost anything.”

Bates said last year he had a little over 600 kids stop by his haunted house on Halloween alone.

He said he welcomes people in the community to stop by and take photos of his home ahead of Halloween. For more pictures and information, you can check out his Facebook page.
